sorry I've been gone so long...

Hello all

I know it has been a really really long time but it has been really really busy around here and I couldn't get close to the computer. It was also being fixed for almost a month

It was a really sad Easter here as Grandma Walls suddenly passed away. Mom was very very sad and Uncle Mark came out to be with Mom and help her out wherever she needed it. There was a tea in Chaplin at the end of April and about 75 people came out. It was so nice to see all those people and realize how many people really liked Grandma. A big thank you to Grandpa Jack as he helped organize everything out there.

Grandma was always around and it seems kinda strange now that she isn't. When Mom had a volleyball game, she would come over and babysit me. When Mom only had 1 game to play, Mom would sit with me in Mom's SUV and talk to me or read to me and just sit there if Iwas sleeping; she even came to yorkton so Mom could play in a volleyball tournament. She called me "Grandma's girl" and always knew how to make me feel better. We would go out for supper or go shopping, especially at Costco...Grandma loved Costco. Mom is still sad but she always gives me hugs and that makes us both feel better. We love you Grandma...

I turned 1 year old on April 6 but we didn't really do very much; Mom was sad because she was planning a birthday party for me and Grandma cuz her birthday was April 12. I got lots of clothes from Mom and Dad, Grandpa Martel and Aunty Karen. I had pasta for supper and carrot cake with icing that Dad made for me; it had a big "1 in the middle.

Mom and I flew to Boston to watch Grandpa run in the Boston Marathon. I am a pretty good traveller actually; I was always tired when we were flying so I slept lots - only once did I cry lots but we hit this stuff called turbulence and boy did it hurt my ears. I cried lots and Mom tried giving me a bottle, sucker or anything..I screamed and then literally stopped and fell asleep for about 1.5 hours and then we were home. It was really cool to watch Grandpa run; I got a picture where it looks like I am crossing the finish line.

Mom and Grandpa also went to Fenway Park and watched the Red Sox play while I stayed with Dad's friend. We went to Nordstrom's and Macy's while Mom and Grandpa were at the ball game. We all went to this bar called Cheers and Mom had her picture taken with someone named Frasier??

I love being outside; Mom took me out to garage sales one day and she swears she will never do that again. She doesn't it anyway and I was quite a handful... But I got a play structure and some push toys so that was OK. I also like chasing the dogs; I get about 4 steps toward them and they have already run by me so I turn around and try again...but I still only get 4 steps and they go by me again! I sure think that is fun. Grandpa Martel also brought out a pool for our backyard so once it gets nice I will put on my suit and in I go...

I sure like to eat; Mom got a picture of me eating corn on the cob right off Dad's fork. I also love french fries, meat sauces with veggies, yogurt and pasta.

Mom's wallyball team won the league and the playoffs and are calling it quits - not enough competiton so they went out with a bang...

A couple more pictures...

Well, I need a nap so I am going to crash...and when I crash I crash...

now what

So, it's been awhile - let me think about what has happened since Xmas...

Well, I began crawling and there has been no looking back. My mom calls me "Zoom Zoom" cuz that is what I am like...if you turn your back I am gone. I have my 2nd tooth now and I am eating some different stuff. I don't like toast or gravy but boy I like yogurt (I can almost eat a whole one by myself). I have also tried (and liked) mashed potatoes, small pieces of cheese, oranges, Kraft dinner (that might be an acquired taste) and stew with beef broth and stewed tomatoes. I enjoy crackers although Mom can't believe what a mess one little cracker can make.

I have learned to clap my hands and think that is fun...I watch my hands cuz they make noise when they come together. I talk and talk and talk - my dad and I have screaming matches and mom laughs...listen...

Mom and Dad went to a wedding New Year's Eve and left me with my Aunty Kim. They had a great time they said but Mom said she needed more sleep and coffee...whatever that means.

It was a sad New Year's Eve as we had to put Grandma's dog Bailey to sleep...he was 12, in pain, he had Cushings's disease. Mom cried so Dad had to take Bailey. My Grandma Walls is still in the hospital; she had a small stroke New Year's Day but they expect she will recover completely. She will hopefully be home to our house this week.

Grandpa Walls went back to China but we will see him in Boston as he is running in the Boston Marathon in April. Mom and I are going to fly to Boston and meet him there. He has always wanted to run in that marathon Mom says so we are going to be there when he finishes; Mom says she wants to get a picture of Grandpa and I crossing the finish line. My other Grandpa hasn't been feeling well either; he is having teeth troubles (and I know what that is like) and so he has been sore.

Dad is going back to work Feb 4th for 28 straight nights so it will be just me and mom. Dad is sad cuz he'll miss Mom's birthday (which is Valentine's day so that is twice as bad) but she says he'll make up for it...somehow... He will also miss his birthday (Feb 6th) with Uncle Jay and Uncle Jon whose birthdays are also around his. I found a daycare lady named Barb and she is only 4 doors away. I went over there for an afternoon to see how it was. I was there for the afternoon and then Mom picked me up after work. Barb said I was perfect... like that is a surprise.. :)

Mom and I had our picture taken with something called the Grey Cup. I don't know why that big cup is so popular (you can't drink out of it) but we were in line for an hour until we got our picture taken. Here is a picture of the picture of us with the Grey Cup.

Well, I should go. I have a cold and am a little cranky...but it hasn't slowed me down any...

Love to all of you

Merry Xmas everyone

Merry Christmas everyone!!! It has been a very busy month in the Martel household. Mom went to the Bon Jovi concert in Saskatoon and she says it was the best concert she has ever been to. Mom is back to work too and it means I don't see her as often as I used to but she plays with me a lot when she gets home. Dad and I are having a great time being together all day...

Grandma Walls has had a tough month. Mom had to take her to the emergency room Dec 11th as she could hardly breathe (pneumonia) and she was having chest pains. She said it was like breathing through mud. The nurses at the ER were quite worried about her for awhile. Her kidneys had shut down too so she gave us all quite a scare. She is still in the hospital after another scare on Friday. The doctor is hoping she will be able to go home at the end of the month.

Grandpa Walls came home for Xmas Dec 20th and will be here in Canada until Jan 5th when he flies back to China. Uncle Mark, Aunty Tammy, Jaxon and Jada came out from Medicine Hat and we had Xmas here at my house. Wow, was there lots to see...bows, ribbons, paper, boxes...so much to play with. I got lots of clothes, some dolls to play with, bath toys, sleepers and some $$ for my RESP's. Dad cooked a great turkey supper - I likd the mashed potatoes but not the gravy...boy I made quite a face when I tasted that.

Uncle Mark went back to Medicine Hat on Sunday; then we had my other Grandpa, Grandma, Aunty Corrina, Uncle Warren, Kimberlee, Josh, Uncle Mike and Amy out and we celebrated Xmas with them too. What a busy house we had. I like the inside of Xmas oranges - they are delicious. I also had jello and ice cream and liked them too but that ice cream stuff is cold!!!

This is me with my cousin Amy, me with my cousin Jada and Grandpa Walls with Jaxon and Jada

me and Uncle Mark

This is a funny picture. Grandpa Walls doesn't like smoking and he sometimes teases Dad about the fact that Dad smokes. Grandpa fell asleep and Uncle Mark thought it would be funny to put a cigarette in his mouth and take a picture. Mom had the camera ready so that she could take the picture right away...as soon as Uncle put it in his mouth Mom took the picture; good thing she did cuz he woke up right away. Wow, did we laugh!

I am a very busy baby now. I am crawling all over the house and I pull myself up to standing using anything I can. I can also furniture walk but I only go a couple of steps then I stop...but then I go again. I have fallen a few times and thunked my head but I survive. I have learned to put one hand down and then I fall on my bum and that is so much better and less painful. I eat some of the foods that Mom and Dad eat and I don't like all of them but it sure is interesting to try.

I am going to go now. I need a nap.

Happy holidays to all those friends and family near and far. Our family wishes you all the best in 2008.

my goodness

Hello again...sorry it has been so long but we have been pretty busy and I am doing so much that I don't have time to write.

Let's see - what has happened since I talked to you last...I got my first tooth the day the Riders won the West Final...boy that hurt getting it. Mom says there looks like another is coming along too so then I will have 2 teeth...isn't there a song about Xmas and 2 front teeth???

I am a growing girl - I now weigh 18 lbs and I am about 28 inches long. I eat 1/2 jar of fruit and veggies every meal and 4 tablespoons of cereal at breakfast and bedtime. I drink about 3 bottles a day and I tried pear jucie but I really don't care for it much - I just let it run down my chin. I don't eat a lot of meat as I don't like it all that much; sometimes my tummy gets quite upset.

How about those Riders - I am only here 7 months and they win the Grey Cup...how exciting it was and all those people on the streets...too cool...

I have figured out how to get into the kitchen as we have a step between our living room and our kitchen...check me out...

My big news is I can stand up all by myself. I pull up onto my knees and then I stand up. I can do it on the dishwasher when the door is down and I can do it using the coffeetable but that is a little taller so it is a little harder...holy are my parents going ot have to be careful - especially Mom who likes her coffee in the morning so she will have to watch for me now...although Mom goes back to work tomorrow and Dad is staying home with me. He just got home from Estevan and is as tired as I am as he worked 14-18 hour shifts so he slept a lot yesterday and today.

I also am learning to play Peek-A-Boo with my blankets and I sometimes wave bye bye to people when they are leaving. I give out kisses but they are very slobbery but Mom and Dad say they like them anyway. I talk a lot I think that comes in the genetics...

People keep talking about this Christmas stuff...I don't really get it but I bet I do next year. Mom and Dad bought me a Xmas dress and talk about me going to meet someone called Santa. We have a tree with pretty lights and sparkles on it. My Grandpa Walls is flying home from China for Xmas and Uncle Mark and his family are coming here too so it should be quite a full house.

I should run. Mom needs her rest so she can be ready for work tomorrow morning...

Talk to you soon

Kenzie

Happy Halloween

Hello all

Not very much is new since we last chatted...

I am all over the place and every time Mom looks I am somewhere else. I have also discovered the cables at the back of the TV and they seem like fun to pull on but Mom always moves me before I can try...

My Halloween was spent with my Aunty Marina while Grandma and Mom went to see Diamond Rio at the Casino. Mom said they were very good and that both of them had a good time. Aunty Marina also said I was soooooo good and fun to look after...except for changing my diaper...either it was a disaster or a nightmare...I can't remember...but let me tell you I know it isn't easy because I move constantly...HAHAHA . I have been to stay with a few people this week - Grandma Walls, Grandpa Martel and Aunty Marina...such busy people my mom and dad...

I was the cutest cow you have ever seen...even with the devil horns...Thanks to Aunty Tammy for the costume and an awesome gift package I got..Mom wouldn't even think of those kinda things but Aunty does...

I am loving eating real food but not so happy with my 6 month shots. I also got the flu shot and had a fever for a little while...those needles are horrible but I get that dislike from my mom.

I have figured out I can make the most amazing sounds...check out the video. Mom and Dad laugh a lot when I kinda "sneeze" and make noises with Mom and Dad back and forth. One of Mom's friends said it will hard to get any oxygen in our house with the three of us and the way we talk constantly...look at me and watch for my "sneezes" at the beginning

Mom's volleyball is still going good...wallyball too. She is going to play middle for her weekend volleyball team (Regina Trailer Trash) this year and hopes the back row still likes her after all the missed blocks. With her playing middle I figure there isn't any way they will win provincials this year like they did last year....HAHAHA again!!!
Speaking of sports...check out my swimming in the bath tub....future Olympic gold medal winner...

Gotta run it's bedtime...love to all those who keep tuning in...
